Webinar: creating a strong mental wellbeing culture through engagement and employee benefits

Register to watch REBA’s latest webinar in its ongoing series looking at the impact of coronavirus on reward and employee benefits.

Looking after employees’ mental health during the coronavirus pandemic is absolutely critical. With so many aspects to consider, from isolation and loneliness through to trauma and bereavement, it seemed only right that we tackle this issue in REBA's latest webinar.

Our panel of experts discussed the key mental health issues emerging among all types of workers due to the coronavirus crisis; identified those most at risk; suggested ways to mitigate pay, reward, pensions and benefits worry among workers; considered how to use your current employee benefits and insurances to support all staff; and whether existing benefits, such as Employee Assistance Programmes, occupational health and Mental Health First Aiders, are up to the job.

The panel of senior reward and benefits employers and industry experts was chaired by Debi O'Donovan, founder & co-director, REBA. The panellists were:

  • Adele Ayling, head of reward, ITN
  • Debbie Fennell, senior benefits manager, DHL Supply Chain
  • Jane Gibbon, group HR director, Just Eat
  • Dr Nick Taylor, CEO & Co-founder, Unmind.

Each panellist spoke about what they had been dealing with in their own organisations and their various approaches to supporting employees’ mental health. They also answered a range of questions from our live audience.

The questions covered included the need for clear communication, supporting line managers, how to utilise wellbeing champions and, perhaps above all, the need for kindness throughout any business.

Although the panel did not always have the answer, we feel that it is vital the reward and employee benefits community comes to together to share ideas and experiences, and to understand that each of us is not alone in dealing with these complex issues in difficult circumstances. REBA’s Professional Members can make use of rebaLINK, our confidential peer-to-peer forum, to gain advice from other reward practitioners about their approach.
