Research: Global Talent Trends 2019

Mercer’s annual talent trends study gathers the views of more than 7,300 business executives, HR leaders, and employees from around the world. In 2019, a staggering 73% of companies expect significant disruption, and 99% are taking action to prepare for the Future of Work.

Key findings

  • More than half of executive expect AI and automation to replace one in five of their organisation’s jobs. However, AI and automation will create 58 million net new jobs by 2022 according to the World Economic Forum.
  • Concerns around talent migration and corporate responsibility to address societal issues have increased significantly since last year.
  • Employees are seeking more purpose, inspiration and connectivity.
  • Thriving employees are nearly four times more likely to work for a company that understands their unique skills and interests.

Mercer’s report looks at four key trends: aligning work to future value; building brand resonance; curating the work experience; and delivering talent-led change.
