Research: Global Talent Trends

Technology is re-shaping value chains, making people and information more accessible, and re-defining how work gets done. At the same time, changing demographics and shifting expectations of the work experience are challenging the traditional model of what it means to ‘go to work’.

Talent trends 3

Mercer’s latest talent trends study reveals four key trends:

  • Growth by design – 93 per cent of business executives plan to make a design change in their company within the next two years.
  • A shift in what we value – Fair and competitive pay and opportunities for promotion are top priorities for employees.
  • A workplace for me – People expect their employer to ‘make work work’ for their individual circumstances.
  • The quest for insight – Very few companies are able to translate data into predictive insights, and nearly 1 in 5 are generating only basic descriptive reporting and historical trend analyses.

This year’s study gathered input from more than 400 senior executives, 1,700 HR professionals, and 5,400 employees from 20 industries and 37 countries around the world.
