Video tutorial: David Grayson, Cranfield School of Management, on business purpose within wellbeing

We live in a volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous world full of issues once considered ‘soft’ but that now has to change, according to David Grayson CBE, emeritus professor of corporate responsibility at Cranfield School of Management and co-author of “All In: The Future of Business Leadership”.

“The Greta Thunbergs of this world are now expecting that businesses will take much greater responsibility for their social, environmental and economic impacts,” he said, speaking at the REBA Employee Wellbeing Congress 2019.

He said businesses had evolved their business strategies from a ‘do-no harm’ era to one that is now more purpose-driven. “It is critical for us to understand the bigger picture in which employees will truly feel a sense of wellbeing at work, or not.”

“Those organisations that are going to become the most successful in terms of truly having long-term employee wellbeing will be those that are also going all in, in terms of leading for sustainability and take this wider holistic approach.”

This video was recorded at the REBA Employee Wellbeing Congress 2019, held in London on 20 June.
