Video: Employee Wellness Conference: Wellbeing key to maximising human capital

Wellbeing is the “key to unlock the door to maximise your human capital,” said Carl Chapman, head of workplace health at Barnett Waddingham, at the REBA Employee Wellness Conference 2016.

Chapman said businesses need to create something tangible around wellbeing and described the six pillars that Barnett Waddingham believes contribute to an employee’s wellbeing. These include job security, financial security, health, protection, support and work life balance.

“We need to stop thinking about wellbeing as just a health issue. It’s so much wider than that,” he said. Chapman described four stages to building a wellbeing strategy, including analysing existing data and creating a brand.

He said those limited on resources could take a more selective approach. “Wellbeing doesn’t have to be a blanket approach – it can be targeted to areas of risk without having to roll out a company-wide initiative,” he said.
