Report: The Workforce View of Europe 2019
After questioning more than 10,000 working adults across France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Switzerland and the UK, it reveals a rebound in skills confidence has occured since last year, with 89% of respondents confident they have the skills they need to succeed in their careers. Older workers in particular show an eight-percentage points increase since 2018.
But the report also suggests freelancing/gig working may have peaked. It finds the percentage of people considering becoming freelance or self-employed has dropped to just 15% - down 11 percentage points since 2016.
The report also finds:
- 60% of respondents claim to do unpaid overtime, equivalent to 5 hours’ extra work per week
- Overall, 12% claim to be working 10 hours or more per week, for free, but this rises to 22% from those respondents in the UK
