An ageing workforce and rising chronic conditions are demanding a shift in approach

The second report in REBA’s societal health series, produced in partnership with Mercer Marsh Benefits, details how employers are adapting to changing health needs.

REBA’s Employer-funded health: the impact of chronic ill health and specialised support services covers three key areas that employers need to consider in their long-term health and wellbeing strategies:

1. Workplace health programmes have an increasingly vital role to play as the scope of chronic ill health in the UK broadens.
2. Diversity is a core factor in employers’ healthcare offerings with providers and employers alike offering more specialised health support.
3. Benefits design and strategy needs to be agile and future-focused if it is to fully support employee health and wellbeing.

This report looks at the impact of the rise in chronic ill-health, and follows on from report one, The Shifting Medical Economy: Impact on Workplace Health, which delved into the role of AI in healthcare, the shift in focus from treatment to prevention, and how employers can guarantee better outcomes for their employees.
